Posted by: Whochick

Hello all. I seem to have a bunch of random links, newsbites, etc. cluttering up the place on my desktop again. Obviously, this means it’s time for an InfoDump! (Please make sure that you are seated comfortably.)

And finally:

With apologies for the delay, here at last is our interview with the amazing crew from QMx. Scott and Sacha interviewed them during the last day of Dragon*Con 2011, so we apologize for the background noise during the interview. Folks were packing up.

Also, if you haven’t yet checked out the QMx website…what are you waiting for?

Air Shark!

Posted by: Whochick

Please tell me that someone is bringing one of these to Gallifrey One. It’s called an Air Swimmer…and it’s really cool. I saw one today, and all I could think of was the Christmas Carol episode of Doctor who. Get your sonic screwdrivers ready folks!

I am not sure where I would put this in my home, but I am sure there are plenty of Who fans just waiting to add this gem to their collection.

Day…??? 28?: Random Links and Such

Posted by: Whochick

Stand by for a Linkapalooza:

  • Are you familiar with Teefury? They offer a t-shirt design for one day only, and have a new design each day. Often they are fandom-related, as is the case currently. You might wish to pop by and take a look periodically.
  • Mars has been experiencing some erosion. Doctor? Don’t you think it’s best to leave Mars alone at this point?
  • Do you remember those casting rumors that had David Tennant playing a part in The Hobbit? Well, while I think it’s currently unlikely as he’s doing a play with Catherine Tate…the IMDB still has the rumor listed. So…who knows?
  • Everything you need to know about Doctor Who on a single page, you can see here.
  • Blastr brings us a TARDIS infographic here. (I wish I could draw…)
  • And, finally, just in case you’re as behind on Torchwood news as I am, check out some set photos here and here.

What Who Toy Would You Want?

Posted by: Dr. Geek

Hello faithful visitors!

I saw this video showcasing the latest Dalek toy, and once again I thought how awesome it must be to be living in the UK right now. I guess it is fair play for all those Trek toys we get here that are not readily available in the UK.

Ride In Dalek

So what other Doctor Who toy would you like to have? I would love to have a sonic screwdriver universal remote control. Surely someone has done that? After all you can get a Phaser and lightsaber universal remote.

Gallifreyan Invasion

Posted by: Dr. Geek

Remember the days when only you and your closest friends knew what Doctor Who was? Remember when the only way you could get Doctor Who Merchandise in the United States was when the local PBS station was running a pledge drive? Well those days are long since gone, and now items connected with the Last of the Time Lords can be found everywhere.

I came across this mug. Okay so it is not as interactive as the old PBS incentive mugs that use to have the TARDIS “disappear” whenever hot beverages were used, but you have to give them credit for creating such a detailed replica of the 11th Doctor’s TARDIS.

Finally it appears The Doctor has decided to go to grad school here in the US. His TARDIS was seen at MIT. Check out this article.

*Whew* Well, that’s what I’ve found. What strange things have you seen?

Now That’s Dedication

Posted by: Dr. Geek

When I got back from Comic-Con, I thought I saw everything. Well, apparently not.

Check this out. Doctor Who action Figures.

So what is so special about Dr. Who action figures? Well as the article explains, not only are the figures of the First and Second Doctors very well done, a limited number of them were released in grey scale. That’s right, so they will look like the actors did during the black and white era of the BBC. Now that’s dedication.

Thankfully these Comic-Con exclusives are still available.

Mega Doctor Who DVD Set Vol 2

Posted by: Dr. Geek

So, how many of you are like me? Nearly 30 years ago, you video taped every episode of Doctor Who available off of your local PBS station, and now you do not even have a VCR in the house.

Of course if you did find such a relic, you would discover that your prized collection is now degraded beyond all recognition. You have to face it. It is time … You have to get the series on DVD.

Well, as most of us know, the new series provides modern box sets at the end of every series. Typically such sets run a bit more than your average American series box set but, it is nice to get all of the episodes in one spot.

The Classic series on the other hand has yet to embrace the box set. in a perfect world there would be one box for every “Doctor”. Of course, the 4th Doctor collection would have to be split into two volumes but at least you would not have to devote an entire wall of your living room to Doctor Who DVDS.

Unfortunately it is not a perfect world, and although the classic series Doctor Who DVDs are very well done, packed full of special features, they normally have only one adventure per disk and the individual cost has been high enough to put some fans off.

So what is a fan to do?

Well it may not be a box set in the traditional sense but tvshowsondvd.com just announced that a Mega Doctor Who DVD set has just been announced.

As you can see from reading the article, March 24th will see the release of 29 titles sold together. It appears that eventually this mega set, like the one released last summer will be available on Amazon.com.
