This time around, we’re looking at the second story from the first season of The Sarah Jane Adventures: Revenge of the Slitheen. (Featuring those smelly fiends from Raxacoricofallapatorius.)

We can wait while you go watch it if you haven’t yet. No, really. Go ahead.

…All set now? Good. Let’s get started, then shall we? (Pay no attention to the zipper in my forehead…)

Final Six Sarah Jane Adventures to Air

Posted by: Dr. Geek

The BBC, in an official press release, confirmed that the final six episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures, which were filmed right after the conclusion of the previous series, will air at some time this year.

There had been some conflicting news stories yesterday suggesting that the show may continue without Sarah. Some stories suggested her absence would be explained away for the back half of the new season which was to go into production this year. Alas this is not true. After the six episodes which were filmed last year air, the Sarah Jane Adventures will end.

Here is hoping the production films some sort of conclusion. Maybe the last episode could have some extra scenes tacked on to show what everyone went on to do. Who knows maybe someday the kids of the SJA might cross back to Doctor Who or Torchwood?

Elisabeth Sladen Tribute

Posted by: Dr. Geek

It is hard to come up with a simple tribute to Elisabeth Sladen. Her most famous character of Sarah Jane Smith meant so much to many different parts of Who fandom. As most know, Sarah Jame started with the 3rd Doctor, and stayed for quite a while with the 4th Doctor. In fact, it is my opinion that in some ways the relationship she had with The Doctor was the template upon which RTD used to create Rose. Sure everyone talks about the love The Doctor had for Rose, or that Martha had for The Doctor, but you can see the beginnings of all that with Sarah Jane and The Doctor.

I was so glad to see Sarah Jane show up in School Reunion. It was at that point that to me, New Who became just Who. It is a shame that Elisabeth Sladen’s own series took so long to develop. While I enjoyed The Sarah Jane Adventures, it was not till recently that I thought the stories were developing to a level of sophistication worthy of her character and Elisabeth Sladen’s talents.

This actress and her popular character will be missed. According to Doctor Who Magazine, the BBC has confirmed that there will be a dedication to Elisabeth Sladen at the start of Saturday’s new episode of Doctor Who. Also, there will be a 15-minute programme ‘My Sarah Jane: A Tribute to Elisabeth Sladen’ at 18:45 on CBBC on Saturday, after Doctor Who.

Here are some fan tributes from around the net. What is your favorite memories of Sarah Jane Smith?

Elisabeth Sladen has passed

Posted by: Whochick

I am so very gutted to pass along the news that Elisabeth Sladen has left us. Apparently, she’s had cancer for a while. She was 63.

We’ll miss you, Sarah Jane.

Jumping the Gun

Posted by: Dr. Geek

Okay, as most of our faithful readers will know a while ago, I posted this article in reaction to all the press about the upcoming Sarah Jane Adventure story in which we were to learn how the 12 regeneration limit would be lifted. It seems all the press about that SJA episode was greatly exaggerated. In fact, one could say all the hype has provided a perfect example of why details are important. If you want to know what I mean by that statement, follow me beyond the spoiler alert warning….

Still no word on when Waters of Mars is going to air.

But, on the plus side, The Doctor is the guest star for the next two episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures. These episodes air this week.

A Future for Sarah Jane?

Posted by: Dr. Geek

The third season of The Sarah Jane Adventures just started and it got me thinking, are there plans of a series 4?

With RTD leaving the Whoniverse is it possible that this is the last series for Sarah Jane Smith? Would anyone care?

I think the series has definetly gotten better. I just wish the show had a bigger budget.

I have no problem with low bduget shows, but for some reason the constant re-use of aliens from Doctor Who comes across less like a cool cross-over, universe building event, and more like, “we can save a pound by having the Judon show up” Maybe it is because the characters from Doctor Who are altered somehow in the translation to the SJA? Or maybe it is because the characters that do cross over are the more “kid friendly” type?

What does everyone think?

I think SJA should get a series 4 but they should take a page from Torchwood and do a six part mini-sereis type event. You know something that would give them more time to flesh things out.
