Daleks & Weetabix

Posted by: Whochick

While I was surfing the Internet recently, I encountered a Model Citizen who showed me the way to this video. I had no idea that the Daleks did commercials, much less ones for breakfast cereal. Enjoy this classic bit, and be sure to tell me if you run across any other commercials featuring Doctor Who baddies.

A Song 4 Kylie

Posted by: Whochick

Yay! I got the embedding to work!

Anyway, I’ve found this song (Good beat. You can dance to it. I give it a 9.) that seems to be targeted at Kylie Minogue’s appearance in Voyage of the Damned, but I suppose that you could consider it to be for any of the ladies who have traveled in the TARDIS. You’d have to ignore the first half of the title, though. (It appears to be a bit of a mash up of The Timelords’ Doctorin’ the TARDIS with some new vocals…and sleigh bells near the end there.)

May I present, by Fast Ood Rockers,…

A Bit of Fun: Bad Wolf References

Posted by: Whochick

In my surfing around the internet, I have once again encountered something of interest. Remember the Bad Wolf story arc from Series one? (The one that has occasionally appeared elsewhere after that?) Well, here is a video that covers most of the references. If you want more information about this far reaching story arc, check out the Wikipedia Article. Apparently “Bad Wolf” was added to the re-done Second Doctor Story “The Invasion.”

Actually, the one that most interests me is the poster on the wall of the vehicle from Gridlock. After the end of the last series, I suppose that we know why it was there. In any case, please enjoy this visit to the department of Backstory.

David Tennant on Blue Peter

Posted by: Whochick

Today I bring you a bit of a flash from the past. Before The Christmas Invasion aired, David Tennant appeared on an episode of Blue Peter. This wasn’t just a meet and greet for the new Doctor. Oh, no. In this episode, David announced the name of the winner of the monster design contest. The winning design was the Absorbaloff, which appeared in Love and Monsters during series two. The designs were all pretty incredible, in my not so humble opinion. Anyway, enjoy this flash from the past. It’s in two parts. The first part has the interview and the second part contains the announcement of the winner in the Monster Design contest. Enjoy!

Behind the Scenes with John Barrowman

Posted by: Whochick

John Barrowman

First, there was the new Doctor Who. Next came Doctor Who Confidential, the behind the scenes informational show that tells you all sorts of things about different aspects of our favorite show. Not too long afterwards, Totally Doctor Who appeared. Totally Doctor Who was more of a kid-targeted version of Doctor Who Confidential, that I don’t think has ever been shown in the US. They had special guests, ran entertaining contests and competitions, and had special access to the filming of Doctor Who. Their studio was right next door to the Doctor Who studio, as we learned in the second series of the show. That must have come in handy with everyone’s schedule being so tight.

(If you would like to see more of Totally Doctor Who, you might do a search on YouTube. They’ve been known to have an episode or two. I’m just saying…)

In the video I have for you this time, you get to spend some time on the set with Captain Jack Harkness. During the filming of “The Sound of Drums” Totally Doctor Who got to follow John Barrowman around for the day. (Excuse me, but where do I sign up for that job?) He showed off his trailer, did a bit of filming, and chatted with the Totally Doctor Who camera. Neither of the presenters were on the scene as far as I could tell, but it’s a nice little peek into the sorts of things that go on behind the scenes. After the section with John, the video goes on to show the “Sneak Peek” at “Last of the Time Lords.” Enjoy!

Imagine If You Will…

Posted by: Whochick

Imagine if you will that Freema Agyeman is on a Virgin Radio call-in show. Just think of all the silliness that could ensue. Imagine that David Tennant called in with a disguised voice. How long do you think that it would take her to realize that it was him? This video has the audio part of the radio show, but only one picture from the event in question. So, don’t be alarmed if the image doesn’t move. Sometimes, David is such a naughty thing. Enjoy!

A Fabulous Fan Made Video

Posted by: Whochick

As you no doubt know by now, I enjoy fan-made Doctor Who music videos and I like to share the best ones I find with you. Today I have one such excellent video to share with you. It was made by “midcirclenine” and appears over on YouTube. It’s a bit angsty. Okay. More like a lot angsty. It’s set to Placebo’s version of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill.” It features clips from series two and three of Doctor Who and a couple from Secret Smile, just to make it a bit more fun. The video is a bit Doctor/Rose shippy for those of you who care. It shows “the fallout of the loss of Rose, and the chase embarked upon to find a way back to her.” I think that it’s one of the best I’ve seen yet. Enjoy!

Radio Times Commercial

Posted by: Whochick

Frankly, I’m surprised that I haven’t told you folks about the commercial before. My parents (Doctor Who fans both) directed me to it an age ago. I was much impressed about how they achieved the effect. Are you wondering what the heck I’m talking about? Don’t worry. If you watch the video, you’ll see what I mean.

Outtakes From the Tom Baker Years

Posted by: Whochick

As I may have mentioned before, I have a weakness for outtakes. So, it should come as no surprise to you that I think this collection of Tom Baker era Doctor Who outtakes is hilarious. Between foul language, the continuously non-firing gun, and K9′s Christmas song, I’m thinking that you all might be amused as well. What do you think that The Doctor really wants for Christmas, eh?
