Yet Another Reason to Get an iPad

So how many of you here in the USA have said, if only I could watch Doctor Who when it airs on the BBC? I know I have, and as cool as it is that BBC America will be airing the Christmas Special the same night, we all know that broadcast will have commercial breaks. Now commercial breaks by themselves are not bad, but since the BBC does not show commercials domestically their shows are just not set up for them. As a result the forced commercial breaks on BBC America are always jarring.

Any way, according to this news, the BBC iPlayer will be available in the US starting in 2011. That means you will be able to see your favorite BBC shows as soon as they are put onto the iPlayer. I am not sure how fast that will be but it probably will be sometime that night.

The only down side? It will be available as an iPad App and you will have to pay a subscription fee. I am not sure how much the fee will be but it will probably be reasonable. The real trick is affording an iPad. Maybe the same app will be eventually available for the iPhone and iPod Touch?
