Who may be a Wizard?

Posted by: Dr. Geek

All right so the Doctor Who news is a bit thin again till we get to this year’s Christmas special, but I did find one item that was worthy of mentioning.
According to this article Sylvester McCoy is up for a part in The Hobbit.

Now I can hear you saying “But Dr. Geek, that movie will never be made” and you may be right, but assuming MGM and the other parties figure out their issues, there might be some truth to this rumor. I believe at one point Mr. McCoy was up for the part of Bilbo back during the LOTR movies so it is not impossible that they might offer him the minor part of the Brown Wizard in The Hobbit films.

I wonder how much of the 7th Doctor would be recognizable in the performance. After all The Doctor turned out to be Merlin :)

Yeah. I heard some talk about him being considered for Bilbo this time. Interesting.

I did as well but I think those reports are confused with the fact that he was up for Bilbo in the LOTR. The Hobbit is a prequel to LOTR so unlesss part of it is told in flashback, I doubt they would get an older actor to play Bilbo.

Of course they could always use the technology from Tron Legacy, but if they were to do that, Ian Holm should get to reprise the part.
