I am such a fan

Fans are amazing. They can be the most supportive and the most critical at the same time. What always gets me is how that supportive mode is triggered. Case and point, just ask me how much I tried to like Highlander 2.

Anyway, what I am getting at here is that a show with a strong track record such as Doctor Who, has some very loyal fans. Sure we can all nitpick, but it would take something really big for the show to loose fans.

So with that said, do you think the production team for Series 5 is trying to hard to win over fans? Yesterday the BBC unveiled the new Series 5 logo and insignia. See it here

My first reaction was that the insignia was a bit goofy, but after a few minutes the supportive fan mode kicked in and now I think the TARDIS light is kinda cool.

A lot of the news lately is just how different Series 5 is going to be. I think change is good, so I do not have a problem with that. My fear is if you read those news bits, it is almost like the production staff is worried they changed too much.

I could be wrong, but has anyone else gotten that vibe, the sort of “stay with us, look how new it is going to be”?

The only vibe I’ve gotten, is that Moffat is trying to completely remake the series and destory everything that RTD created in new Who. The only impression I’ve received from the fan sites is that most fans are highly suspicous of what he is doing and ready to bail if they don’t like it.
