News and Such from the Whoniverse

Posted by: Whochick

Yes. It’s true. Like a naughty thing I’ve had a whole bunch of Doctor Who-related news and such like open in browser tabs for a while now. Now, I’m finally getting my act together and sharing them with you. Here we go!

If you like Doctor Who-related crafts, you might pop over to LiveJournal and check out “Merdee’s” crocheted TARDIS ornament. Yet another reason that I wish that I could crochet.

A while back, the BBC asked for questions to ask some of their team in a special panel to be held on the opening night of the Celtic Media Festival in Caernarfon. Apparently, the night was a huge success. If you live in the UK, you can go here and download a podcast of the event. If you don’t live in the UK, here is where you will find the article about the event, the UK-only podcast, and some photos. Sadly I couldn’t find a er…more accessible version of the podcast for the rest of us. If you do, will you let me know?

Another crafty TARDIS can be found over at The World’s Largest Collection of Smalls blog. This TARDIS ornament was posted by “Christine” and makes me wish that I was cleverer with a needle.

Doctor Who has been nominated for three BAFTA Craft awards, according to the official website. On Sunday 17 May 2009 we will find out if: Russell T. Davies wins for “Midnight” in the Writer category, The Mill will win in the Visual Effects category for Fires of Pompeii, and Philip Kloss wins in the Editing Fiction/Entertainment category for his work on the show. Oh, and did I mention that Alexander Armstrong is hosting the show? Who’s he? Why none other than Mr. Smith from the Sarah Jane Adventures. Hopefully they’ll actually televise the show on BBCAmerica or something.

According to SciFi Wire, David Tennant had a wee bit of a cry over his final script. Well…I can’t say that I blame him.

If you liked the episode “Rose,” then you will love shinyopals’ recap of “Rose” using MS Paint. Check it out here on LiveJournal.

SciFi Wire has a video of David Tennant talking about the women of the Universe throwing themselves at The Doctor. “I can’t help it if the ladies of the universe are flinging themselves at me,” he asserts. Check it out!

Are you getting married soon? Well, why not use a Doctor and Rose topper on your cake? Where would you find such a thing? Here on Ebay, of course.

Three new Producers have been announced for Doctor Who, and apparently they aren’t the A-team. Oh, no. According to the BBC these are the folks that the A-team would call when they needed help. This crew of awesomeness is comprised of Tracie Simpson, Peter Bennett, and Beth Willis (who will be joining the Executive Producer crew.) I can’t wait to see what kind of show they will bring us.

Rumour Alert! Rumour has it that the eleventh Doctor will be encountering The Rani. Not only that, but said Rani will be played by Gillian Anderson of X-files fame. For all that I’d love to see her in the show, I hope that they don’t start bringing in more Time Lords without a really good explanation, you know?

Mighty book reviewer and Doctor Who fan Puss Reboots recently reviewed Doctor Who and the War Games by Malcolm Hulke. Stop by her site and check it out.
